Liqour Dispensing

COMPUTERIZED LIQUOR SYSTEMS

There are many varied types of computer liquor dispensing systems. Some work very well and often you may add features that hook the system directly to cash registers to match inventory with sales.

However, the more you spend on the system does not always mean that they are better for your situation. I have used inexpensive ones that poured 3 portion sizes and 6 brands that were excellent. I have also seen huge expensive ones that had to be taken out. Computer systems can sometimes be a nightmare for bartenders and management.

One place to recommend a computer system would be in a service bar area away from customer view. Another good computer dispensing situation is where large volumes of drinks are poured that call for only one or two portion sizes. An airport bar where there is a captive audience and business is a function of airport traffic and not repeat customer visits might be another good place

For restaurants and clubs where repeat visits are important, you might want to consider customer perception. One of the largest objections to automatic dispensing systems is that they convey a somewhat mechanical, impersonal image to the patron. Many owners find that this is not in keeping with the atmosphere they wish for their sizeable investment. They rate customer perception high on their priority list.

If you offer a large selection of liquors, there will always be brands not on the computer system. Again, many cocktails call for numerous shot sizes in their recipes, and a fancy system will probably not pour all the portions you desire. Plan to deal with those situations even if you spend big bucks on a computerized dispensing system.
